A keyword is an alphanumeric word of more than 3 characters that allows customers to text into a short code. For example, radio stations quite often use them to get people to text in for competitions etc: ‘Text the word MUSIC followed by your answer A, B or C to 60006 to enter’
From a business perspective they are a great way to categorise and respond to inbound messages, for data capture, competitions and events. Each keyword that is texted in can be responded to using Rules, for example: ‘If message content equals ‘MUSIC A’, reply with message ‘Thanks for your entry, we will let you know the winner on Wednesday’ and move the message to folder ‘MUSIC’
This simple rule means the customer has their entry confirmed and has more information on the Ts and Cs of the competition. The benefit of this kind of rule is that the customer is instantly reassured that their entry is accepted and the further information can be kept on their phone for reference.
Inbound messaging is a great way to engage customers in parts of your business you know they are interested in and as a result use their responses for behavioural information. For example if your company has branches all over the country, use a different keyword for each and based on the volumes of customers that text in each word, you can see which branches have the biggest mobile presence.
If you want to use a Keyword for your marketing or data capture, then get in touch and we can set one up on our shared short code 60006 by email at sales@dynmark.com or telephone on 03333 448 880
