Dynmark Direct e-txt now offers greater functionality than ever before. A new function called merge fields allows up to 11 different fields of personalisation in an SMS and while this has been available in our Campaign Manager application for a while, this feature is a significant step forward for e-txt and we hope our customers will see the benefits of using this.
In our experience a customer is more likely to respond to a message if it is personalised to them, for example:
Hi {first name} thank you for registering, your unique offer code is {code}.
This is useful in both marketing and operational messages where specific individual information needs to be communicated. Examples include:
· First name
· Last name
· Promotional codes
· Monetary values
· Locations
· Dates and times
By default we have created some standard fields to use (such as first and last name) but we have also included 5 customisable fields where you can enter personalisation data specific to your needs. The customisable fields can be renamed simply within the Tools section in e-txt, and then populated either manually by editing a contact or automatically using the import facility. Using merge fields is very simple, as shown in the example above you can simply type them directly into the messages text the format {<your merge field name>} or simply use the drop down list on the create message dialogue.
